Here’s everything you need to know before your session with us:
Studio location: 845 S 55th St Philadelphia. Street parking is easy in front of the building or elsewhere on the street, do not use the gated lot, we don’t have access to that and the gate may close behind you, trapping your car forever!
The studio has a full backline so no need to bring your amps or drums if you don’t want to (but if you love the sound of your snare or amp feel free to bring it). Our studio is on the 3rd floor, so be ready to haul whatever you bring (I’ll help though). Let me know if you want specifics on the gear we have. Drummers should bring breakables if possible, there’s no guarantee we’ll have cymbals in the studio. If you want more info on our backline hit the “gear and mic locker” tab above.
Please show up on time (the agreed upon time is when you should show up for load in). We might be doing several of these sessions over the course of the day (3 hours each) so keeping the timing right will be important. This means don’t show up super early either, as the previous session might still be going (I might not be able to let you in until the start time we agreed on). If you show up significantly early feel free to text (do not call, we can’t pick up while recording!) when you’ve arrived, but chances are we won’t be able to let you in until closer to the start time. There are lots of nice coffee shops, restaurants, and bars on Baltimore Ave though!
Please come prepared to pay for the session, cash or zelle is best but if absolutely necessary other payment methods also work (Apple Pay, cashapp or venmo). Venmo is the worst, please avoid if possible.
Reminder: the basic pricing for these sessions is $70 per song (+the $100 you already paid which went to renting the studio). There have been a couple bands that thought it was $70 for infinite songs, which is a misunderstanding I don’t want to have again! If you requested add-ons the price may be higher.
If you’d like to tip us (and there’s absolutely no pressure to do so) 100% of that money will go towards a fund we use to give discounts to bands and artists who would otherwise not be able to afford to record, with a focus on people of color. Donations matched by us (your money goes twice as far!)
